What should I set my thermostat to?

My wife and I are always arguing about how high to set the thermostat. I feel that it should be at least 70, my wife likes it cooler. What is the most ideal temperature to set our home thermostat to save money on the energy bill?

Suggest that the lower you set the thermostat the more you will save. The bottom line is you need to keep it above 32 f degrees or water will freeze the pipes. You generally set the thermostat to a temperature where you do not feel cold and without finding it necessary to wear too much heavy clothing, when relaxing in the home.

I think you must set your thermostat according to the atmosphere. If it is too cold outside than inner atmosphere is also cool so you can adjust in that way so you do not feel mush cold and you feel comfotable and if atmosphere is hot than you can set accordingly.

I'd say setting the air conditioning to 68 degrees as a happy-medium. I've heard that you save roughly $200 annually by raising your thermostat by 2 degrees in the summer and vice versa in winter.
