Now that you have the template you want installed, you can begin customizing your site. The first thing I'd recommend is to check out the "Main" template, making sure to write down what blocks are located where within the layout.
After having done this, you can begin to decide what each block will be used for......this is a separate task, so we'll go from here once you have gotten to this point.
