Ok:
1. I've been working online just about 61/2 years now
2. I'm a retired/disabled veteran. Doing hardware testing/reviews has been a hobby for me.
3. I'm in Las Vegas, NV
4. I'm 39
5. I'm married to an incredible lady, who is also my best friend. We've been married more than 10 yrs. no children, i enjoy being the kid too much......but we have a dog and two cats.

I've worked really hard to build a good community at HL. I have a great group of 7-8 contributing writers....you guys should stop by sometime and check it out.

Thanks for your reply Capper. I'm still a kid at heart too, which I think helps make me the fun mom...although I am still a mom not those annoying "Be your kids best friend" people. Living in Vega...I'm so Jealous! I used to live in Utah and fly there on weekends to get away. What war did you serve in, if any?

By being the kid, I mean if I actually had kids I couldn't have a hobby like I do now. Both my wife and I enjoy having hobbies and being spontaneous....not a lifestyle conducive to children.

Vegas is really nice, the weather and community are fantastic, as long as you stay away from the Strip. Most people come to Las Vegas and never leave the Strip, then develop a bad image of the city when they lose all their money etc.

I served in the Army as a paratrooper for 7 years....great experience. I was in for the first Gulf War and served overseas quite a few times. I retired in 1997 with a badly injured back, which is how I ended up in my current hobby.
I did the strip only once just to "do it" so to say. My husbands work included Vegas in his territory to cover so he was there alot and always loved all the off strip places. He always said the same thing, stay off strip for the really fun/cool stuff.

OMG a paratrooper! I never could see how some could jump out of a perfectly ood plane..plus I'm totally afraid of heights! I had a friend train as a paratrooper he loved it too. I think it truly takes a risk-taking personality to do those things I give you tons of credit for doing that, and of course serving in the Gulf...I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like!
Here we go,

1. Been online for about 8 years, but if you count all the hours 30+
2. Full time job is selling used CNC Machinery. Sell machinery on ebay in the range of $15,000 - $100,000 per listing.
3. Born in England, moved to the US in 1984
4. In my 40's
5. Got involved with the internet probably like most people, just started browsing then played with Front Page for a while, then got involved with scripts and the rest is history.

I have over 100 websites online. All my important ones are on a VPS the rest on a shared server.

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer selling machinery and coding at the same time. I really enjoy what I do.

Some of my other sites. That's if you're interested.

http://www.metalworker.com/
http://cncclassifieds.com/

Plus a whole lot more.

Capper, I love Vegas, (they owe me money). Been there well over 100 times, when I was in outside sales that was my territory. Took the family out there many times on business, it's only about a 5 hour drive.

Wow, those are some crazy looking machines that I have no clue what you do with LOL Nice looking directories you have there. I used to use that script when I first started out and liked it. But I've gotten away from most of my directory sites now, there such a PITA IMHO. More power to you for running them!
Chippie, where are you located? 100+ sites....damn, you folks are all professional web designers and such....I'm a one site guy......I couldn't imagine doing the web design stuff on a daily basis....I think my one site looks terrible.

Is there a particular focus for your businesses? Do you have a specialty? What drew you all to what you do now? What do you do for fun a relaxation?
Capper,

Im in Gilbert, AZ

I'm just a one-man-band, a lot of the sites are modified scripts and some custome scripts.

The ones I keep up on a daily basis are the classifieds sites and the directories. I'm always tweeking and tuning.

The focus of my business is the Machine Tool Industry. I sell used machinery to machine shops. I do not go out anymore I sell all online. In most cases I never even see the machinery.

Kaos, the types of machines I sell are for cutting metals. Machine shops use them in the making of parts for the aerospace, defense, automotive, semi-conductor, electronics, mold industries etc. Starting out with a block of material and making precision parts. The majority of the Phoenix Mars Lander was made on cnc machinery.
