This problem has been the big issue with PHPCOW, and if anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them.
We have lost a LOT of work, and man hours, because the editor times out or doesn't save. Most often, you are simply logged out......its not a certain period of time, one time its 10 minutes, the next its 30 minutes.
Other times, you click "SAVE" and the status bar pops up and you think its saved your work.....but when you reopen your article....there is nothing there.
Is anyone else having this issue? Has anyone else found a solution?
Huh, I've never had that issue personally, but I typically have all articles etc, written in Word and cut and paste them into the admin, so its a rather quick process.
The problem with using WORD is that the Devedit editor hates the html code WORD generates. M$ programs generate teerrible HTML code

Capper,
The editor does allow you to paste texts from other sources in three ways: direct paste, paste from Word, and plain texts (it strips all the html tags).

I have the same problem every now and then. Sometimes i have to remove a paragraph before it will upload!? It can be completly random! Lately, i've been creating everything in Dreamweaver and then copy the source code into the editor, this usually works for me. Maybe all this will be fixed if they include the CuteEditor like you said.
Really, this is the most frustrating issue with the COW....we have lost a lot of work, and I know you can use external editors.....but then whats the point of having an editor or program like this?
Also, pasting from WORD completely screws the HTML, I'm not sure if you've looked at what it does, but its not a lot of fun to clean up.

None of our clients ever faced the issue. All work from PHPCow editor only. I have recommended not to do a direct copy paste from word. Better to take it through notepad if working with Word cannot be avoided. Interspire's Devedit is really Interspire issue and based on interactions with them few years back i know how good/bad their support is. They simply answer, it's fixed and that's the end of it. Communications with them doesn't proceed any further with them on any bugs issue.
I agree completely....the editor is not a PHPCOW issue, its a Devedit issue....the bad thing is that you can't update or change the editor according to PHPCOW....I know there is a much newer version that fixes a lot of bugs, but the way its integrated, you can't update it yourself.
I for the life of me cannot figure this out, and its created a lot of problems for me and my staff.....I'm at a loss for what we're supposed to do. I mean, if it were a fixed #, like 30 minutes or 60 minutes, that would be great....but when the program disconnects after 10-20 minutes sporadically, its frustrating.
Do you have too many mapped templates. At ~100GB/Mo and i guess 1000 articles, submitting articles should not be an issue.
http://bieninformado.com is a site with about 40K (largest that we have on shared hosting in terms of number of articles) articles and even they never faced this issue although they are on a shared hosting account on a server which does about 15GB/Day primarily http traffic.
Program never disconnects for that long a period. It never disconnects or hangs unless MySQL server becomes non responsive.
Capper how many QPS (Queries/sec) your MySQL does?
Out of this can u give a complete breakup? something like these:
__ Questions ___________________________________________________________
Total 76.67M 51.4/s
QC Hits 45.58M 30.5/s %Total: 59.44
DMS 24.79M 16.6/s 32.34
The above i have given from a live server doing a total of 51.4/sec with mysql being up for more than 18 days .
