Personally, I really need these:
- Pagination for article listing
- Better archive system
- Better and cleaner article comment system (this should be easy)
- Multiple categories for each article.
- Customizable CSS: We can just replace the default CSS by our own to customize our site as we wish
Maybe more ...
The one thing I've never successfully implemented that came with the script was the photo gallery. I find it extremely cumbersome, so that would be on the top of my list for updates needed.
This is the third time I've heard of this PHPCow 3.0 update planned. Where is everyone getting this inf from?
All excellent suggestions.
If they use Cute Editor, like they are supposed to.....it will be a huge upgrade.....other than those already mentioned, I'd like to see the ability to interject media files directly into the articles, where you want.......instead of through the templates.
A want a better gallery system. Maybe its just me but I find it very cumbersome and really haven't got it tweak to my liking...of course I kind of have ignored it not focusing on it a a feature right now. If anyone has a nice gallery going, I think that would be a great "how to" to have in here, for me if no one else LOL!
I'd also like a java/ajax preferably polling system. I don't like the current one that has the pop up results. I'm just not a popup fan in general.
Great idea!! I hope the guys from PHPCow read this forum!!
Oh my wish list could be a long one. However, just covering the important ones (not repeating those covered already)
(1) Some sort of expression language in custom blocks. This would make templating very very flexible but at the same time would make it a bit difficult for those who are beginners. This is something like it exists in
http://campware.org/en/camp/about_campware/620/ campsite product.
(2) Ajaxified front end wrt polls/comments/even pagination
(3) Ability to include custom functions in CUSTOM BLOCKS
(4) Ability to have Most Popular in CUSTOM BLOCKS
(5) Ability to include Article ratings in CUSTOM BLOCKS
(6) A frameless admin.
(7) User Registration System along with subscription management which allows siteowner to sell full content access.
(8) Newsletter management system. This could be a PAIN however with certain spammers or spamvertised site webmasters (you can find many)
(9) A more powerful menu handling system within the admin for creating menus.
(10) Ability to include comment counts in CUSTOM BLOCKS.
I guess it could go on and on..... but let's end it there.
The downside to above is it would generate more unhappy impatient users as I am sure they will not be able to "Spoon Feed" on How To's. One would need to find their own way to learn things.
Cheers
I like the term "ajaxified" LOL!
All good recommendations..
For polling or surveys, i'd recommend LimeSurvey, its a free survey application you can integrate into your site.
^ Would I be able to include that polling script into custom functions Capper?
