I really like the PhpCow News Publishing System. However, I am quite disappointed sometimes as they're quite slow in responding to customers' request for enhancement, improvement, or bug fixes. It's too bad that the source code is encrypted so we cannot do anything to get things done by ourselves.
I kind of agree. At first, before I bought the script they were extremely slow to respond. After buying they got a little better but recently I haven't contacted them to really have something to judge them on.
I totally agree with the coding though. I would love to just be able to hard code some things in there. I'm donw to considering this script or joomla for my next project. I love that cow seems more versatile... but joomla is more flexible with the code so I'm not sure what I'll end up with.
What happened to you to provoke this statement thiennhien?
Well, they don't have a support forum and don't publish development progress although they do have quite a lot of customers. Last year, I heard that they were about to have PhpCow 3. Then I heard that it would come out this spring. We are all sort of being blind about the product we're using (although it's good).
The support person who I deal with is quite nice. He did help me out several times. However, they could reduce lots of time and energy for person-to-person support if they have an open forum.
I totally agree. I told them they needed a support forum last summer and they said they loved the idea but never did it...but hey if they had done it This site of mine wouldn't exist LOL. I am going to go build a quick banner for this forum and put it in my footer of my phpcow site and hope to start getting this site populated. Do you have alot of people contacting you for "how tos' with the script all the time like I do? I didn't mind it at first been when I started answering the same questions over and voer...phpcowhelp.com was born LOL!
Finally! I've been looking for forums with phpcow users.
What took you so long to find us? LOL We've only been up a few weeks.
I guess a forum on their site would have been great. That said, I have seen many forums where users start lambasting the company just because no company staff answers/rarely answers on forums. Possibly they have been delaying on forums as they wanted to be free from their staff spending time on forums.
Rarely would users ever agree that Forum is _NOT_ the _OFFICIAL_SUPPORT_CHANNEL_
Well, if you read the rules of this forum we are not here to lambast phpcow developer/admin etc. We are simpler here for the greater good. To provide buyrer/ potential buyers of the script a place wher they can ask questions, get how to's, etc from others who currently use the script and love it. I think you will find that we all love the script no matter what our "wish list is" we still are behind the script. I have disclosed before, I am in no way associated with phpcow owners, I am simply someone who has run the script for a year and a half now and loves it. I have been bombarded with questions in my email after giving phpcow a testimonial, so I decided to throw this up and answer questions, instead of answering the same question over and over ago via email. I think we can help the owners of phpcow truly, if we can provided people with an outlet to come to to get help, it will inturn take pressure off of them to answer the basic questions freeing up their time for more major issues and improving developemnt of upcoming releases.
