redir: Problem with PAID support is after buying script in $100 most want to build CNN in another 50$. American or no American is immaterial as far as support goes. It's a matter of how many are willing to Pay the "Quality Price (not 6-8$/hr) for all support related issues. It's the problem that when one can't build a CNN in $50 beyond the script price most (not all as there are a few who pay for quality support/attention) feel cheated. We offer all custom templating and limited custom work support but there are very few takers for reasons noted above.
Kaos: After V3 i think most will stop complaining about not being able to do anything just because it's zended. I guess V3 will have provision for writing your own modules to interact with DB, upload to a directory and then use the module directly in template using conditional statements in template. So templating would be more challenging and more powerful because of use of conditional statements right in template.
Oh don't get me wrong. I am not from phpCow :-).
Yes, I am greatly anticipating the release of V3 as is everyone I think. Looking forward to getting to play around with it...but harder templating??? Great! Thats all I need

You're too funny!
The reason what you say is true is because of the script price to begin with. For instance: CNN would never consider paying for PHPCow.
The reason for this is they would NEVER consider spending ONLY $100 on a script.
They will go and get something that is $100,000 and expect to spend money on teams of people to support it.
When you have a $100 script, you attract a different customer. You attract 3 types of people actually:
1) Start-ups with no budget.
2) People who are making a decent amount on the net, but are used to buying everything for nothing, have no respect for work/effort and are very very cheap.
3) People like me (Hobby's that are turning into full time jobs). I am making decent money, just not enough to push me to the next level yet, which is holding me back from growing. I have money to sink into my project, money to hire a few people to help me get the support I need, but not enough money to make a mistake and hire the wrong people that can't make what I need happen... happen.

I think that is a great point...I think I also said elsewhere. There is a way to underprice your product therefore steering your sales to a different crowd. If phpcow was more expensive, even $400 like it used to be...I think you will get a more knowledgeable webmaster buying it, or one that can afford to hire out the customization etc...therefore relieving alot of CS issues on the cow themselves!
A fair pricing would be (Just my thoughts):
(1) $100. No Questions answered. RTFM and DIY
(2) $400 With all attention to questions offered.
(3) $650 same as (2) above with copyright removal
We bought the first license @850 but no complains. There's one more thing that we always tell overambitious (in terms of expectations/requirements) clients -- Adapt to software ... If you want software to adapt to your specifics please add a few more zero's to the right on prices.

Thats absolutely ridiculous.
If you want to charge extra in addition to the program, make it an open source program so at least customers have an option.
I'm disappointed by the posts of some people.......its suspicious to me that there are several unhappy people, and a few who rave about the program who all same the exact same thing.
What do you mean "suspicious"? to posts in here? Really? I find sadly, most posts are negative or frustrated people may be a better way to phrase it. I love the idea of making this go open source (but won't hold my breathe obviously) I think you (meaning the owner of the script) can't have it both ways. You can't charge a ton for support, then not give good support when you do not give enough documentation for clients to use your script correctly. They should either support the script based on sales price alone, while also providing documentation or go open source, and charge for support then, when people haven't already put money into it. But thats just my 2 cents

Well it's personal opinion and i have no comments on this.
Business cannot run by selling script for 100$ and then answering questions on everything unrelated to script also.
